PIAP Space has secured PLN 12 million (about 3 million EUR) in a new round of capital increase from the Industrial Development Agency (Agencja Rozwoju Przemysłu S.A.), which has increased its stake to approximately 96% of the company’s share capital. The funds will be allocated to the development of the RAVEN programme, currently PIAP Space’s most ambitious project in the field of in-orbit satellite servicing technologies, as well as to strengthening the development of robotic technologies.
The capital increase represents another stage of IDA’s (ARP) consistent support for the company and confirms the strategic importance of the technologies developed by PIAP Space for both the national and European space sector. The investment will accelerate work on in-orbit servicing solutions and further strengthen capabilities in the field of orbital robotics.
The RAVEN project is a next-generation orbital system developed under contract with the European Space Agency, aimed at enabling autonomous transport, inspection and servicing of satellites. PIAP Space acts as the leader of an international consortium that includes, among others, Creotech Instruments S.A., Łukasiewicz - Instytute of Aviation and Military University of Technology, with the support of Polish Space Agency and public institutions.
The project has now entered a phase involving the detailed definition of the first demonstration mission and the development of the preliminary spacecraft design. The RAVEN DEMO I mission, planned for 2029, will focus on validating key technologies such as orbit changes, phasing manoeuvres, proximity operations and controlled deorbiting.

RAVEN develops technologies in the area of RPO (Rendezvous and Proximity Operations), including autonomous proximity manoeuvres, object capture, and future docking and satellite servicing operations. In a broader perspective, these solutions will form the foundation for the development of in-space logistics services, inspection of orbital infrastructure, and activities related to satellite security.
From PIAP Space’s perspective, the project represents one of the most important steps towards building its position as a European supplier of advanced technologies for orbital operations. At the same time, it aligns with the global transformation of the space sector - from one-off missions to an infrastructure-based model requiring continuous management, maintenance and servicing.
In parallel with the RAVEN programme, PIAP Space is developing advanced robotic technologies designed for both orbital operations and planetary missions. These include, among others, systems for object capture and manipulation, force and torque sensors for safe interaction, and standardised mechanical interfaces enabling capture and stabilisation. These solutions are designed to operate in microgravity as well as in planetary environments, including the exploration of the Moon and Mars, where reliability, autonomy and resilience to extreme conditions are critical. Technologies developed by PIAP Space may be applied both in servicing orbital infrastructure and in future exploration missions, including manipulation, assembly operations, and support for mobile robots and lander systems.
The secured funding will allow the company not only to maintain the pace of development of its projects, but also to prepare for subsequent stages, including commercialisation and further expansion in technologies that will be of key importance for the security and independence of space infrastructure in the coming years.
